Dr. Deborah
Anne Palmieri is Chief Executive Officer and President of The
Russian-American Chamber of Commerce® and a nationally known
industry expert, scholar and writer on Russian business, trade
and economic relations with the U.S. and Western nations. Under
Dr. Palmieri’s leadership since 1994, The Russian-American
Chamber of Commerce® has grown into a prestigious national
organization representing U.S. business interests in Russia. Board
and member companies of the Chamber include Lockheed Martin Space
Systems, Newmont Mining, Corning, Kinross Gold, Sun Microsystems,
Gillette, AmericaFirst Companies (Agribusiness Partners LLC),
Topcon America and many more.
For the past fifteen years, Dr. Palmieri has undertaken to promote
the mission of expanding U.S.-Russian business and trade and fostering
a positive business climate for American companies in Russia.
She has written countless articles, convened hundreds of meetings
and has brought private companies and public officials together
in pursuit of U.S.-Russian economic cooperation.
Dr. Palmieri is the co-author or editor of four books, including
Russia and the NIS in the World Economy: East-West Investment,
Financing and Trade; The U.S.S.R. and the World Economy; and The
Dynamics of Soviet Foreign Policy. Her most recently released
book, a 3-volume set, The Ultimate Insider’s Guide to Doing
Business in Russia, is a definitive guide on business with Russia.
She is editor of the bimonthly Chamber publication, The Russian
Commerce News. Many of her collected writings are cited on the
Chamber’s website at www.russianamericanchamber.org, under
“Dr. Palmieri on Russia.”
Prior to joining the Chamber, Dr. Palmieri’s career history
included serving as Assistant Dean of the Graduate School at the
University of Southern California in Los Angeles and teaching
at Pomona College (California) and the University of Denver’s
Graduate School of International Studies. She was a MacArthur
Scholar at the Center on East-West Trade at Duke University. Dr.
Palmieri is the recipient of over 12 major academic honors and
awards from institutions including Columbia University, the London
School of Economics, the University of Denver and Duke University.
Dr. Palmieri holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado, Boulder;
an M.A. from the University of Denver, Graduate School of International
Studies and a Ph.D. from Columbia University.
